Habits Of Highly Healthy People

"Being alive is one of the greatest gifts on earth,

but being healthy remains our greatest wealth."

In this day and age, the idea of health is so diverse and difficult to define. Our personal health should something that we work towards each and every day, but it becomes difficult to do with all of the contradictory information on the web & social media nowadays. This makes it difficult when deciding WHERE or HOW to begin your healthy lifestyle. Which is why Datefit wants to give you a few simple healthy habits to incorporate into your daily life.

1. Move- Exercise 30 minutes at least 3x per week. Get up and move (new smartwatch technology sends you reminders to stand at least once every hour to prevent becoming an "active couch potato". You can start by taking a walk after lunch. Eventually, you can set out blocks in your daily schedule to get moving and exercise- essentially making an appointment with yourself every day!

2.  Make yourself a priority- No matter how bust we may get, it's important to put your own health first. We like to say "you can't pour from an empty cup" meaning that unless you take care of your own mental and physical health, you won't be able to truly help others to your full potential. Practice self-care & "treat yo self" and you will reap the benefits!

3. 7-8 hours of sleep: Skipping out on zZz's can lead to fatigue (obviously), weight gain, mood swings, and decrease in immune system function. Getting the recommended amount of sleep can aid in metabolism (weight loss) and other vital functions of your body.  Start by turning your phone on 'do not disturb' and shutting down social 30 minutes - 1 hour earlier.

4. Drink. More. Water: Most people have no idea how much H2o your body needs to function properly especially when you add in exercise! The old "8 glasses a day" recomendation is too not tailored to each individual's needs. Try to aim for 1/2 your body weight in oz per day. Say you weigh 180 lbs, you would aim for 90 oz of water per day!

5. Don't skip breakfast: While some people have found success with intermittent fasting- the research on this is inconclusive. What we do know is that skipping breakfast causes your short-term memory to suffer and could cause excessive eating later in the day. So grab something quick in the morning to keep your brain, body, and metabolism fueled properly.

6. Meditate - Don't knock it until you've tried it! Meditation can be used to manages stress, reduce anxiety, prepare you for the day, and increase focus. Meditation has also been shown to decrease Cortisol levels (stress-induced hormone leading to extra lbs in the midsection). Try using simple apps like Headspace and Calm to guide you through a 10-minute session when you're feeling stressed.

7. Learn something new every day: Become a student of life! Learning never goes out of style, and this can easily be done through listening to podcasts, youtube tutorials, reading how-to books, learning a new language, taking a new exercise class, etc. Some of my personal favorite podcasts are: The Gary Vee Audio Experience, The Quote of the Day, The School of Greatness, Bucci Radio, Goal Digger Podcast, and Em Body Radio.

8. Balance: Remember this, everything in moderation. It has been known that highly healthy people don't have the "diet" mindset. They eat healthy 80% of the time and allow themselves a treat 20% of the time. "Balance" means something different to everyone, but by working towards your own version of balance, will keep your sanity & also keep you healthy!

We hope you enjoy these tips & feel free to share some

healthy habits that your incorporate into your own life daily!
